Known as the Creator of Verdadism, Soraida Martinez has gained recognition and received many awards for her unique, thought-provoking and visually stimulating art style that addresses issues of sexism, racism, and stereotyping for the precise purpose of promoting tolerance and a deeper understanding of the human soul. Achievements & Awards:
• Nominated by Secretary of State to the New Jersey State Council on The Arts (1996 to 1999)
• Published book on the Art of Verdadism (1999)
• Chosen by the U.S. Department of State as one of the 15 most prominent Hispanic Americans shaping the U.S. cultural scene (2008, 2009, 2010)
• Recognized in Huffington Post’s Latino Voices as “10 of the best Latino Artists in the U.S.” (2013)
• Exhibited 20 Verdadism paintings at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park Museum (2017)
• Inspiration and Commitment Award, Latino Chamber of Commerce, Mercer County-NJ (1995)
• Distinguished Woman Award, La Tribuna Newspaper of New Jersey /New York (1996)
• Inducted into the twenty-first edition of Who's Who of American Women (1999)
